Just give Sakho a payrise
The reason he is under performing is because he wants more dosh. Give him more mores and save the hassle of spending 27m on a 29 year old who has got a couple of years left at best and who doesn't want to come.
If the chair don't want to spend big on Lacazette then don't see the point in getting Bacca. Sakho still can improve

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
If he's refusing to go on tour then he should move on to another club. Great player on his day but there's no point if he's not committed to the club.

I don't see it as an either/or option regarding Sakho and Carroll.
Ideally we'd be playing the pair of them.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
With someone like Sakho it's always hard to know, he seems to be a less hood rat Ravel Morrison.

I think he's mustard when he's on his game and could be our 20 a season. I think he thinks that too and finding out via media he's effectively getting replaced won't help his already dodge mentality.

Hopefully Bilic can turn him round but if he's refusing to travel them he's not helping himself and he ain't helping those of us on his side to be optimistic and defend him.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
Johnson, I don't disagree with you about Sullivan mouthing off, it doesn't help at all. But it's still no excuse for Sakho's behaviour in my book.

If it's about money, then he should get his head down, work hard and prove his worth. He's earning a fortune as it is. If it's about first team football, then likewise.

As it is, he's disrespecting the club that's given him a massive opportunity, as well as the fans.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
Alternatively Charlie, our chairman could resist from mouthing off many times about wanting a top striker when he's got a couple of extremely good ones on the books.

Maybe, just maybe, a player's ultimate boss making it clear he's out to replace him can agitate a man.

Saying you're after a top striker means you think your currents ain't top.

We can't pretend players don't react to that and Sakho seems to be in the sensitive mold.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
I would normally agree with this if we couldn't get anyone else in and that desperate, but for his injury problems, anyone who has had back problems will understand that these almost certainly will be ongoing. So I say get rid as soon as we get Calleri or other in.

Valencia must go also as he has proved to be too lightweight for this league, but out of the two he is more likely to stay fit to play at least when called upon.

Carroll also has a terrible injury record probably to do with his stature which is more akin to basketball. Will be a key season to see if he can stay fit. I don't think he will and if so should be his last season with us imho. We need four fit strikers to call upon.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
Yeah, let's reward him for throwing a strop and refusing to play by giving him more money. Great idea.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
Looks like Sakho has burnt his bridges sadly and it is sad as he's a talent and will go somewhere else and bang them in.

I wish we could turn that around but maybe it's beyond repair now. He probably does deserve more money for better form but he needs to suck it up and prove that and I think he just wants a fresh start now.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
I actually don't disagree with the point of this post.

Given the current market he would more than justify 50k pw.

He has had about three injuries in two seasons.

He has performed well in both an advance forward and target man/dropping deep roles.

£30m definitely does not guarantee you instant premier league quality.

I'm all for managers setting a precedent and not giving into player power but I feel it would be better to leave our nose Intact than risk spiting face.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
Got a feeling Bilic now sees him as a bit of a cunt, and he knew how to get himself a pay rise, so he must also feel Sakho has gone the wrong way about this entirely.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
I seem to remember someone saying his contract is for £30k pw and would have been increased had he not suffered so much injury. When you see what we are offering other players to come and join us poor ol' Sakho feels hard done by....

Only £1.5m a year when he is clearly in his own mind, worth so much more.....

I'd imagine anyone at Stoke on the last day of the season desperate to see us finish top 6 will happily see the back of this twat and not just for the awful finishing.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
Surely he's not being paid at the moment, seeing as he's withdrawn his labour.
In any other industry an employee refusing to work would not just have their pay stopped, they'd be out the door before they knew what had hit them.

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
After Sullivan has said we need a "top striker" and quoted a price we'll sell at?? Yeah, pay him more. That'll him improve the situation.

While we're at it, let's make Enner captain.

Either play him...ahead of Carroll unless injured...or sell him for 15million +...

We need a top scoring striker even if he stays...

If he goes replace him...

Re: Just give Sakho a payrise
Not sure that it's quite as simple as giving Sakho a pay rise

Firstly, on his day Sakho is an exceptional talent, but he was injured a lot last season

Secondly, he (alledgedly) threw a major stop with Bilic after not being picked for a game (can't remember which one now) towards the end of last season
I get the impression that not many players get away with doing that & not facing severe consequences

Thirdly, Sakho (alledgedly) seems to be suffering from a series of serious off-the-field problems

Perhaps he just needs to get away somewhere else for a fresh start?

Fourthly, I thought he had a further pay rise / new contract fairly recently?
